Welcome! And thanks for coming along…

For me, making functional pottery is a direct response to mass production. I work in an intentionally slow and delightfully meditative process. I create extremely small batches (generally making just 2 to 12 similar pieces at a time) and decorate each piece one at a time, by hand. I love working in this way. It allows me to shut off the over-thinking, anxious side of my brain. As an otherwise introverted person who tends towards the side of hermit, it also allows me a way to connect with people through the work I make.

With my style of working, as well as everything that is going on within the tech/social media landscape, it makes sense for me to take a hiatus from social media for the entire foreseeable future. For the past couple of years I’ve also recognized that social media doesn’t bring me any joy or real positivity, so this was an easy decision to make. I’ll be using this blog and my monthly newsletter to keep you all up to date with what I’m working on, which in-person events I’ll be at, online shop updates, etc.

Working with clay is work for me, but it’s also incredibly therapeutic. Every time I go to the studio instead of doing laundry or running errands is a choice I make for my own happiness and mental well-being. I hope you all take the time to make those positive choices for yourself, too! Joy begets joy, both for ourselves and within our community. I believe that wholeheartedly. And now, more than ever, our world needs more joy, kindness, and overall well-being. Thank you all for sharing your time with me and for supporting my work!
